Spamming has always been one of the worst nightmare in the life of a web surfer and anyone else except the spammers themselves. Spamming is also causing some serious problems for those business owners who advertise in a legitimate manner. Spam filters of emails are continuously blocking most marketing emails, and also those which the customer might have requested. In this way these spammers are spoiling the business of internet marketing in general.

These spammers find emails in various different ways from the interent. They can find them on websites, mailing lists, blogs, forwarded emails, hacking, etc. Then the sell these emails to interested buyers to make money. Since this is their business, they continuously devise new ways of avoiding spam filters. Spammers usually sell products like viagara, pharmaceuticals, memberships, etc. Many times these emails also carry deadly viruses. These viruses can either affect your computer and sometimes can also steal information. So how exactly are we going to stop these spammers and at the same time do business and internet marketing inspite of these spam filters blocking our emails?

As mentioned earlier, even though the spammers are becomeing increasingly sophisticated in their attacks, technology is also not far behind. Their filters are becoming smarter day by day and cyberlaws are also becoming more stringent.

That is fine as far as spammers are concerned, but legitimate business owners should take proper precautions so that we can be fairly sure that our emails are reaching our intended audience.

Use simple text based emails with simple and compact subject lines. Spam filters are programmed to catch common phrases in subject lines. Hence using simple subject lines can definitely increase your chances of passing the filters and also of the email being opened by the reader. Try to make the subject line as personal as possible. If you know the name of the person or his company name better use it. As far as your sales message is concerned, use a simple and short text message and provide a link to your website where he can get further details about your products or services. Always offer an unsubscribe link through which an uninterested user can discontinue receiving emails from you.

Since spam filters are programmed to catch words and phrases, these days spammers are increasingly using images and graphics in the emails to get past these filters. Hence spam filters of the future will also have to consider this approach of the spammers and should have the ability to read text as well as graphics.

Besides email there are other ways of advertising your business online. You can try putting up a blog where users can interact with you and with each other. At the same time do beware of blog spammers. Yes! Alas these spammers have cast their evil eyes on blogs, websites, and public forums in an attempt to sell their products.

Hence we as users and legitimate business owners should make it a point to not fall for these spammers in whichever form they exist. If you are using your email, try to be sure of the source where it is coming from. Be very careful of opening emails from unverified sources, especially those having attachments. As far as blogs and public forums are concerned, try not to respond to spammed messages, and if possible try to get them removed by complaining to the webmaster. The defeat of spammers lies in your lack of response to the spammer’s messages and their products. I understand that this might not be always possible but ignoring them is one of the best ways in which we can win the battle against spamming.

Google’s pay per click application is called “Google Adwords”. It is also Google’s main source of revenue. It is not the only pay per click application on the internet, but it is certainly the most popular. This is because Google is the most popular search engine on the internet, and hence you have a greater chance of attracting targetted traffic to your website.

This method of advertising can be extremely successful provided you know how to use it efficiently, or else it could be a total disaster. What I mean by that is you need some training before you attempt to write your ads. Google itself does an excellent job by offering online tutorials, and there are also many other professional products and tutorials available online which are written by experts.

Google pay per click ads are nothing but the small ads which are displayed on the right hand side search results whenever you search anything in Google’s search engine. These search results are also called as inorganic search results since they are paid listings. Natural and upaid listings appear on the left hand side and they are called as organic search results. These ads are only of 2-3 lines and they contain your keywords. The first line is the header which is a link to your website. Be sure to include your most important keywords here. The next two lines is where you write an enticing description about your website which makes an interested user click on your ad. Be sure to include your keywords in these lines as well. Also try capitalizing the first letter of every word.

You can open your adwords account with an initial sign up cost of $5.00 USD. Then the next step which is the most crucial is that of selecting your keywords. This is where most people make mistakes. Don’t just go for the most popular keywords, since more popular the keyword the more Google will charge for it. In fact Google will charge you every time someone clicks on your ads. The charges can vary from a few cents to a few dollars depending on the popularity of the keyword. So it is important to do your research and select your keywords wisely. The best way to manage your keywords is by putting you most important keywords into it’s own AdGroup. In this way you can write ads specific to that particular keyword.

Google offers AdRank to monitor your Google ads. The AdRank is determined by three major factors. They are keywords, quality score and bid price. The formula for AdRank is: AdRank=Quality Score X Max CPM (Cost per thousand impressions). Once you understand this you should be be able to rank your ads higher, since people usually don’t search beyond the first 2-3 pages on Google.

But ranking higher in the paid search results is also not easy and requires meticulous planning. You have to target your keywords precisely, so that your ad appears on the first 2-3 pages. One of the best ways of finding appropriate keywords is by using Google’s very own keyword tool. You can search your keywords by various categories. This should come in handy while choosing the most relevant keywords.

Make sure that your ad delivers the message to your visitors instantly. Do not try and cheat them in any way, or it might result in lost clicks. Always link your ads directly to the intended page. In this way visitors will find what they are looking for without any hassel. Following all the steps above will certainly help you achieve a good quality score and thus a higher placement in the search results. Remember Google rewards ads with a high CTR (click through rate) with a higher placement and these ads can sometimes outweigh high bidding ads.

Google pay per click is one of the best ways to display your ads on the best search engine in the world to get targetted traffic to your website. There are many tips and tricks in which you can make this method work for you to generate bigger profits.

The most important aspect of pay per click campaigns are keywords. It is very important to generate the right keywords which can drive the necessarry traffic to your website. Doing it manually is a possibility, but can be very time consuming in the long run. To generate more keywords and save time you can try keywords generating software like “Keyword Station” which is free, then “Good Keywords” which has a free as well as a paid version or “Keyword Elite” which is a premium software.

Try and keep your keyword phrases and list as compact and focussed as possible, so that you get targetted visitors. Targetted visitors always have a greater chance of converting to paid customers. If you go too broad with your list then you might end up attracting visitors which may not be interested in your products, thus wasting your precious money on unnecessary clicks.

Antoher powerful of increasing the effectiveness of your ads is be testing them on a regular basis. The best way to do this is by split testing them. This process can be very time consuming for different ads or different variations of ads. To counter this problem Google currently offers a free tool called “Website Optimizer”. With this tool you can try different variations of content on different pages and test the results on those pages. What I mean by checking results is the checking the click through rate of your ads. In this way you can always keep the best ads and eliminate the on performing ones.

Even though Google Adwords is the most popular pay per click advertising method, there are other pay per click methods available. Most notable amongst these are Yahoo Sponsored Search and MSN Adcenter. So if your pay per click ads are converting profitably at Google, then you can try those ads at these other advertising networks and get their share of traffic as well.

The best part about these pay per click ads is that you have the ability to target your customers by geographic locations. So if you are using a web based service, an online product or if you are planning to export your products to other destinations in the world, then you can modify that setting in your advertisment network to include those places as well. In this way you can reach your customers both physically as well as virtually.

So go ahead and try these basic tips to get you started on a successful pay per click ad campaign which will most certainly produce positive results.

Emails are an online business’s best weapon for generating business. It is through emailing where you can strike a professional relation and build trust with your clients. But it all begins by sending those emails in the first place and in the right manner. You can send your targetted emails in a couple of popular ways?

Both HTML as well as text emails have their pros and cons. But if you are looking for a wider reach and saftey assuarance then it is best to send text emails as opposed to HTML emails.

With HTML emails you can make your emails attractive and appealing to the readers by using colors, and graphics. You can also use HTML attributes to highlight important points in your email. You can also track click through rates with HTML emails. But there are some major drawbacks when you use HTML emails. HTML emails are very heavy and hence take longer time to load. This can cause a problem on slower internet connections. They also occupy the recepient’s disk space to store images and graphics. Sometimes email clients can display HTML emails differently so be sure to use CSS style sheets to design your mailers.

Be sure to write clean HTML code while designing your mailers, since sometimes HTML mailers can contain viruses or worms as attachments or their can be malicious code within the body which can harm the recepient’s computer.

Some users can set their email clients in such a way as to not accept HTML emails. In this case your emails will appear as raw HTML code which most recepients will not be able to read and hence delete them.

If you consider the above possibilities then you would agree that HTML emails are best to be avoided. Many people still don’t quite know how to use them in an efficient manner and this can really backfire on your business.

If at all you want to create graphically appealing messages what I would suggest is create your mailer on your website and give a link to it in your text email. So your readers can either read the short text email or click on the link and see a fancy HTML email. Many users would appreciate this approach since you are giving them a choice. You can also create an option for your members when they register and ask them if they want to receive text or HTML emails.

When you compare all the pros and cons, sending plain text messages seems to be a far better choice. Text messages also makes your emails appear less like an advertisement. Since there are no images and HTML elements to consider, they load quickly and appear as they should appear. In this way you can be assured that your messages will reach your recepients as intended, and you can look forward to getting business from them.

There are many ways in which you can make money with domain names. One of the most lucrative online business nowadays is that of buying and selling of domain names. Since the right domain names means a lot to a website and the business, these domain names are selling like hot cakes. These domain businessmen usually book the most appropriate domain names and then sell them off for a higher profit. This profit could easily go up to thousands of dollars or more depending on the the accuracy of the domain name, and the company willing to buy it.

Then there are people who want to buy a domain name for themselves. So if you are looking for a domain name for your business then try to get a name which explains your business or industry. This approach not only helps users understand about your business at first glance, but also the search engines who look for specific keywords in a domain name. This will possibly give you a better search ranking and thus more business. You can also buy a domain name from your industry or something which sounds similar and is also already very popular. So all the existing traffic of that website will naturally come to your website and you can really tap into it. Some people also book a mispelled domain name of popular domain names to increase their chances of being found if someone does a typing mistake. For example someone might book a domain name like “macrosoft.com”, “yohoo.com, or “goggle.com”, etc.

Also, whenever you are buying a domain name try to keep it short and simple. Do not use more than two words in your domain name. These two words could be your top keywords. Many words in the domain name can easily confuse the users, since no one likes to type big domain names and the search engines can misinterpret it as domain spamming.

If you are looking to sell your domain name, then try to be persistent and and professional in you approach. There is a big chance that you might just earn a fortune here if you pitch your offer correctly. You can also visit some domain auction websites like afternic.com or sedo.com to get an idea of the prices which people charge for domain names.

Another way in which you can make money with domain names is through domain parking. You can make money with your domain even if your website at that domain is not ready. You don’t have to worry about things like design and content. Your domain sponsor manages everything because he himself makes money from pay per click ads placed on your website and you will also get a share of it.

So these are some of the ways in which you can make money by investing in domain names and selling them off to the highest bidder, or even by parking your domain names and placing pay per click ads on them.

Let’s say your business is growing and you need a website developed for it. So what is the first thing that comes to your mind. Is it finding the right web developer? Well that’s important, but what is even more important is finding the right domain name which identifes with your company if not your industry.

But the problem doesn’t stop there. With so many domain names already being used and many more going out very fast, domain names are selling like hot properties all the time. Today it is almost impossible to find relevant domain names for your specific industry without making some alterations to it. The .com names are the most popular extensions for domain names, followed by .net, info and .org. Most of the popular .com domain names are already taken because of their immense popularity.

To book a domain name, the first thing that you got to do is look for a domain registrar like Go Daddy, Directnic, Domainsatcost, etc. Nowadays many webhosts also offer this functionality. They usually throw in a free domain name with their hosting account. Then you have to start searching for your desired domain name with their on site service. In case your desired domain name is already taken, they will offer you suggestions with different phrases like hyphens, numbers and various extensions.

People usually look for a .com domain name because of their familiarity, but in case you don’t find the appropriate domain name, then feel free to search other extensions like .net and .info. The extension has nothing to do with the performance of your website. Nowadays people also use extensions like .tv, .ws, and country extensions like, .ca, .in, .au, .us, .uk, etc. Govenrment and educational institutions go for .gov and .edu respectively.

Search engines also have an interest in domain names. Always try and include your top keyword(s) in your domain name. That way you are directly telling the search engines what your website is all about and which specific industry you represent. This can also help you get traffic and your search eninge rankings.

Try and protect your domain name from spammers by adding the private registration option when you register. In this way your personal details like your name, address and email will be protected from spammers.

I strongly suggest purchasing your hosting and domain name from the same company. Chances are you might even land up with a free domain name. In this way you also do not have ot bother changing the DNS (Domanin Name Servers) of your domain name, since your domain registrar and webhost will be the same company. Once you have all these things sorted out, then you are well on your way to developing your website and getting your business online.

The internet originally began as a medium to distribute information in a fast and convenient manner. Content is nothing but information which is valuable to the reader. So it should come as no surprise whenever you hear the term “Content is King”. Actually on the internet not only content, but quality and regularly updated content is king since fresh content is so well liked by readers and the search engines. But the big question is how to get quality content on a regular basis? Here’s how.

If you are passionate about some topic or activity and have a flair for writing then nothing like it. You can devote a few hours per week to writing articles or notes about your favourite activity. In case you are not that much of a writer, then you can hire ghost writers to do the job for you. These writers can charge anything from $5 to $10 per article, but you can always bargain with them. Once you have a few articles lined up, yoy can post them on your website or blog. You can also distribute them to article directories with your resource box at the bottom which will contain a backlink to your website. Interested readers can then paste these articles alongwith the resource box on their websites. And thus in a short time you will get lots of backlinks to your website, thereby giving you a chance of increased search engine ranking.

But if you are not a writer and don’t want to spend any money on ghost writers, then there are other ways of obtaining content for free.

Subscribe to an RSS feed of any website which offers them. Most article and information rich websites offer RSS feeds. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. You as a user can subscribe to an RSS feed on a website by copying the source code on to your website. Then whenever any content is updated on that website, your website will get updated automatically. This is done with the help of an RSS aggregator. In this way you will get fresh content on your website automatically, and hence it is very popular.

You can start your own article website directory where other users can submit their articles. This is yet another easy way to get content written by other people for free. People want their content to be published. So you can be sure that you will get tons of free articles absolutely everyday.

Create an online forum. A forum is nothing but an online application where users can post their content and hol discussions. They are also called as discussion groups, bulletin boards among other things. Since users can post content and chat with each other, all the content is user generated and continuously updated. Hence people keep coming back to read other people’s comments and post their own and the search engines also love it since it keeps getting updated.

These are some of the ways in which you can obtain content either for a small price or entirely for free. Hopefully this should put an end to your online content woes for good and also improve your user base and your search engine ranking.

Adding video on your website is a relatively new concept, but it is gaining popularity almost everyday. Especially with the ever increasing popularity of websites like YouTube, Google Video, Myspace, Yahoo video, etc; this concept is currently on an all time high.

There is nothing like advertising your products and services on your websites with the help of short videos. Instead of reading a whole lot of text, people usually prefer viewing a quick and interesting video because of its visual appeal. The only drawbacks could be the download speed, and the hosting storage space. Tackling this problem is only a matter of time. There are many websites like YouTube, etc; which offer free video hosting. And with high speed internet networks always on the rise, it won’t be long before we see many high bandwidth applications like streaming audio and video online on a regular basis.

But if you compare adding video to other online concepts, it is still in its infancy. This is because many people are still not well informed about it. They have many misconceptions like: 1). Adding videos online is very expensive. 2). Making these videos is only for professionals. 3). It is very difficult to shoot videos and the put them online for an amateur like me. 4). And many more similar doubts.

In reality all these doubts are no more than a myth. This is because adding videos to your website is simply very easy and not at all expensive. All you need is a video recording and editing software. You can download a free software like Camtasia. This software records your screen activity alongwith your voice. It can then save it in a few compatible formats. This is a great tool for creating online instructional videos. In this case you don’t even need a video camera or a webcam to record your footage. Another popular software from Microsoft which comes free with their operating systems is Windows Movie Maker. This can record your own face and speech with the help of a webcam and mike. This software is also great for editing existing videos, adding titles, transitions, etc. And above all both these software are so easy to learn, that even a child could do it. If you are the more advanced type, then you can also try professional video software like Adobe Premier, After Effects, Combustion, Avid, etc.

As far as hosting these videos is concerned, like explained before there are many free video hosts available. Websites like YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo Video, MySpace, etc; offer lots of space for storing your videos and ways of streaming them on your own website.

Lastly, I would like to cover one more topic which is also gaining rapid popularity. This is the concept of video blogging or ‘Vlog’. So far you might have heard about text blogging. These text blogs are extremely popular with users and search engines alike because of their fresh updated content and user interaction. But video blogging seems to be the future of text blogging. In this way users will be able to express themselves in a much more creative way. You can also show your products in a video format and get instant reviews and feedback from users, since people would like to see your products before they buy them. So in short it is like showing a full commercial advertisement of your product on the internet for free.

With all these advantages and its ease of use, it shold come as no surprise that online video and video blogging (Vlogs) are gaining popularity everyday and are the future of the internet.

Let’s imagine this situation. You have one of the best designed website on the internet. You simply seem to have everything in place on the website. Great graphics, flash, a superb navigation system, etc. But you are only short of one thing. Traffic!!! Yes, traffic. This traffic is the key to your online business or website’s success. You need these visitors flowing in to your website regularly on a consistent basis. The most popular search engines on the internet are Google, MSN and Yahoo. So it is very important to design your website pages which are optimized for them, so that they will rank your website highly and you will be able to get traffic from them.

The manner in which the major search engines rank your website is through programs called search engine robots or crawlers. These robots crawl the internet and find websites. Then they read and follow all the content on various pages of the website and register everything in their database. So whenever people are searching the internet for information they pull up these listings and present it to them.

There are many things which you need to avoid in order to liked by the search engine robots. First and formost are frames. If your website is in frames, then it is very easy to confuse the search engines. This is because the frameset will contain one main page, and the information keeps on changing in the frames internally. These frames will also annoy your users who will find it difficult to bookmark different pages on your website.

Next in line are flash websites. Try avoiding entire flash websites as much as possible. There is a place for flash elements and flash websites, but do not try to construct a information rich website in flash. These information websites are rich in keywords and if it is presented in flash, then it will be impossible for the search engine robots to see them, since they can only read information in text form in your source code. Hence this can adversely affect your search engine rankings.

Use HTML tags like Title, Meta Description and Meta Keywords wisely and on every page of your website. This will help the search robots understand what every pages on your website are all about. This makes the search engine’s job very easy and they will index your pages more often. Also, whenever you add these tags always see to it that you don’t overdo them.

Always use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to design and style your pages. Avoid using tags like “font, pre, bg”, etc. Most of these tags should be declared in the style sheet which should be used throughout the website. In this manner your code will become very compact and clean and will make your website code easy to read and faster to load.

Search engine optimization is an endless task and is not within the bounds of one article. But the aforementioned tips is just my humble attempt to get you started in the right direction.

Today all over the world broadband internet is spreading at all times. But even then there are still a significant amount of internet users who surf on dial-up networks. Hence it is very important to consider them while designing your websites. So when you do consider these users, you have to consider another aspect of your website: Download time.

If you have a good old text website then there is nothing to worry about, since these websites do load very fast. But nowadays you hardly get text only websites. Some amount of graphics and images will be included on some of your pages. This is exactly where you have to be careful. Large images and graphics tend to slow the download time of your websites since there is usually a lot of information associated with them. Information like various shades of color usually takes lot of time to calculate and hence websites with heavey images load slowly. Hence it is very important to strike a balance between using a few images to spice up your website as opposed to using a lot of images which will slow down your website.

To enhance download times, you should consider optimizing either all your images or at least the ones which are very heavy. When you optimize your images the file size gets reduced. The best way to do this is by using a graphic or image editing software which strips out unnecessary information on your images without affecting their quality.

The best professional program for this purpose which comes to mind is Adobe Photoshop. In Photoshop you have several options of saving an image in various file formats. You can save it as either a JPEG, PNG or GIF. If it is a photograph, there is an option for saving it as a JPEG for the web. You can also adjust the quality of the image while saving it in this format, so that it reduces the file size without greatly affecting the quality. The JPEG format is used for saving photos.

For graphics other than photos, there are other formats such as PNG and GIF. The PNG format is very popular for saving images which can later be used in flash animations. In the PNG format you can get the best quality at the lowest file size. Hence it comes in handy with flash animations where you have to consider several graphics in a single animation.

Similarly we also have the .GIF format. This is mainly used to save graphics for simple GIF animations. This format uses a palatte of 256 colors. And because of this limitation it is unsuitable for photos, but is a great format for saving general graphics and especially GIF animations.

Thus these image editing programs really come in handy while reducing file size of images. Besides Photoshop there are other image editing programs available. You can even download a few free ones from the net even though they might have a few limitations. But in any case optimizing your photos and other graphics is definitely worth considering if you want to consider as many users to your website as possible.

A sitemap is either a diagramatic or textual representation of the architecture of your website. It can be a simple webpage which contains all the links of your website organaized in their appropriate categories in a hierarchical manner. If your sitemap is well developed and easy to follow, it can greatly aid your visitors and also the search engine robots.

Just as you refer to a map to check your direction in the real world, a sitemap acts as a navigational map of your website. If your website is very large, it is quite possible that your visitors might get lost in your website. But if you have a well designed sitemap in place, then they can easily navigate their way through your website. Also your visitors will understand what your website is all about by looking at your sitemap, since all the sections and pages will be listed there. In this way instead of surfing through each page, they can simply go to whichever page they want through your sitemap thereby saving time.

Search engines simply love sitemaps, since they contain all the pages and sections on your entire website. So whenever search engine robots visit your sitemap page, they follow the links on your sitemap thereby indexing all the pages of your website. Sitemaps can also be very useful for flash and dynamic websites, which do not have an HTML extension and hence cannot be found by the search engines.

Some websites are very large and many search engines can have problems accessing all the pages on the site. Besides many search engines follow only a limited number of links on a website. Hence having a sitemap takes care of this issue, since all the links of that website can be found there. Aso, try putting your sitemap link on all your pages at a prominent location especially on your homepage. Google loves sitemaps so much that it has introduced “Google Sitemaps“. And now these sitemap protocols are also supported by MSN and Yahoo.

Having a proper and a well maintained sitemap makes your website well organized and uncluttered. You can easily get a sneak peek of your entire website at a glance. Whehever you want to add new pages or categories to your website, you easily fit it into the existing structure of your website. In this manner you can sort things out in the most relevant manner.

Hence if you consider the aforementioned reasons, then you would agree that a sitemap is extremely important, especially for a large website. In this way your website will become very user friendly and easily navigable for your users as well as the search engines.

An auto-responder is just like it’s name suggests. A tool which responds to emails and website queries in an automatic manner. This is easily the best way to automate your website since you don’t have to respond to each customer indivdually. All you have to do is build a common message for all your visitors or members, and your auto-responder will personalize each message and send it out to each member for you. You will be able to set up response messages, reminders, and also send bulk emails. Thus it can be a great time saver and an effective way of communicating with your members and visitors.

The auto-responder can be your biggest online asset, since it gives you complete control over sending emails to your existing and potential customers in an organized and timely manner. What’s more is that you can also schedule your responses so that they are sent out automatically on the scheduled date and time. This can be really neat since if you want to send a simple welcome message to each individual customer as soon as they complete a registration form on your website, you can pre-program it and it will be sent automatically. You must have experienced this many times yourself. You might sign up on a website and immediately you receive a personalized email which welcomes you to their website as a new member. This system is very popular with online technical support departments, membership websites, online stores, newsgroups, web hosting sites, etc. just to name a few.

Another advantage which I spoke briefly about is scheduling of email messages. Suppose you sign up your members for a weekly newsletter, then you can schedule your autoresponder to send out at least one email per week. This feature can also come in handy in case you want to send reminders to potential or existing customers. Hence as far as messaging is concerned, your auto-responder can do as much stuff as you want it to. You will be saved the hassle of hiring a full time employee to manage your emails, and will also send you many hours of precious time. Since an auto-responder can automate your email tasks, there is absoultely no chance of missing any important deadlines or opportunities as far as communication is concerned. And besides you can send as many email messages to as many people you want.

In the coming years, your business growth will directly reflect your opt-in mailing list. And with growing business, you will have less time for other activities like email. Since it would be impossible to answer each email, or customer support individually. But the good news is that with the help of auto-responders you can almost completely eliminate the time spent emailing your members or customers. Hence it is best to start using an auto-responder early in your online career. In this way you can start in a small manner and also learn many features of the auto-responder, since different auto-responders have different features. And since it is very easy and convenient to handle a large number of users with the help of auto-responders, you will find the your opt-in mailing list and online business grows much faster.

So what do we think about auto-responders? Well it is not going to replace personal emailing entirely, and we still suggest sending personal emails whenever necessary. But for typical, automated and immediate online business responses an auto-responder is your best bet. Since it is convenient, less expensive, and above all a great time saver.

If you want lots of attention and originality for your website then humor is someting you should definitely consider. When you compare funny and humorous websites to the ones that are not, then you will find that there are hardly any funny sites out there. This approach will definitely make you stand out of the crowd, since at the end of the day people need something funny which will make them laugh and smile. I am not saying that you should have a funny joke site throughout, but you can try putting your content in a rather humorous and jovial manner. One way of doing it is with caricatures of different public figures, and writing some funny one-liners.

Whatever you do you should always try to be original and creative whe it comes to developing your website. People are really bored of seeing the same things over and over again, and they would certainly appreciate a change. Try putting information on the website in a different way. For example you could change the way your navigation is set up. Or you could try various techniques with graphics and colors. Whatever you do try to be original and creative, but not too abstract which completely confuses and puts your visitors off.

The better way to do this is to have a section which is dedicated to some humorous topics in addition to some humor throughout ther website. You can either have a few pages for this section, or to make it more user interactive, you might want to have a blog. A user interactive blog will give you lots of original content since there will be other people besides you who will be posting to it. This regular updation will make it a big hit with other users as well as search engines. And it won’t be long before you blog attracts users from various places every single day. If you have smart links pointing from your blog to your website, there is a big chance that you will get most of the traffic from your blog to your website. It is simple common sense.

Today there is a new concept of vlogs coming up. A vlog is simply short for “video blog”. With the emergence of video sites such as youtube, google video, myspace, etc. this form of advertising has really taken off. Alongwith funny caricatures you could also have some funny video clippings or a humorous slideshow. A few short 1-2 minute videos can really make your website more appealing and popular since people would certainly love to sit back and relax for a few minutes. These vlogs are also popular with search engines, and there is a big chance that they might rank you higher.

Other popular ways of getting lots of traffic is by getting lots of incoming links to your website. At the same time try and focus on linking to websites which are related to your industry. Since search engines notice these things. There are many places where you can exchange links. Just type in a search for link exchanging websites, and you will find many of them. In this manner you will get good directed traffic.

These methods and ideas discussed above are a sure fire way to make your website original, humorous and get lots of targetted traffic to your website.

With so many web design companies out there, you have every reason to be concerned about your website. This is where a highly creative web development company like EffectWave.Com comes in. Our team of experts make sure that every detail regarding your website is taken care of. The most important factor are the search engines. The way we design websites enhances your search engine placement. Besides this there are other things to be considered which will ensure that you are getting the most out of your website.

As far as website aesthetics and design are concerned, the website has to be appealing and readable. Since web surfers nowadays are very impatient, you can be certain that if your text copy is in anyway hard to read or understand they will leave almost immediately. So to ensure your website’s high appeal make sure that your navigation is in the right place and not confusing. The links have to be clear, easy to follow and access. Similarly the body text has to be laid out in the most efficient manner. Choose an appropriate and readable font, font size and font color. Dark fonts against a dark background and light fonts against a light background are certainly not readable and are a sure fire way to make your visitors run for cover.

Try to use muted and sophisticated colors as much as possible in most cases, since that gives an impression of professionalism, and such websites are easy to read. vibrant and flourscent colors can be used in very rare cases, but it’s best to avoid them in regualr business websites. Such colors can be distracting and at times also very offending.

Keep your website as simple and less confusing as possible. You might have come across other websites which have a lot of stuff and functionality on them, and they only add to your confusion. For a moment the user is in a situation where he doesn’t know what to do next. When this happens then most likely your users are going to leave your website. As far as feedback forms are concerned, try to avoid asking too much information. People are quite skeptical in providing personal information upfront and also quite irritated while filling long unecessary forms.

Always try and provide fresh content to your visitors whenever you can. It will not only make them come back often, but will also make the search engines happy. Yes! search engines love new, fresh content and websites which are updated regularly. They tend to rank such websites highly. It will also prove to your visitors, that you are really a professional who is interested in the website.

Participate in link and banner exchange campaigns with related websites. This increases the usfulness of your website. The more relevant links that point to your website improves your search engine ranking. You can also publish a monthly newsletter to keep your visitors interested. The latest trend which is catching up is writing informative articles and recording videos. This has a tremendous impact on your users and search engines.

Thus if you design your website keeping the users in mind, your website and business can go a long way. This is precisely what professional web developers like EffectWave.com do regularly.

In today’s world, your website is literally the online front desk of your company. Even if your company does not have a physical presence, your website is like an online representation or face of your company. The biggest disadvantage for on offline company is that people all over the world cannot see them physically and hence putting up a decent and professional website is all that more important. This is because people have a tendency to judge your business by it’s covers.

Suppose you own an offline business. Wouldn’t you expect professionalism and dicipline from your salespersons? Would you like them to behave and be dressed in a shabby and unprofessional manner? Your staff might be the best in the world, but unless they present themselves in an appropriate manner, people are going to form a bad opinion about them and your company.

In the same manner, your customers also expect your website to be professional and cutting edge. But if your website is put together in a shabby and unprofessional manner, then your customers are going to get a bad impression of your business upfront. And since first impression is the last impression, this matters a lot.

On the other hand by designing a high-end and professional website, you are sending out the word to your users that you are concerned about quality in every aspect. Just as you care about your website in meticulous detail, your users will get an assuarance that you will care about them in the same manner. They are likely to feel that you are the person they should be doing business with.

Just as you care about your website, you should also have other aspects of your business well designed and organized. This includes your company logo, business cards, letterheads, brochures, advertisements, etc. All these little things when put together will really improve your business image in the eyes of your customers. Because these things in sometime will become the corporate identity and image of your business, and it might just all begin with a good web design. Remember to care about your web design and online business just as you would care about a physical offline business.
